PeaceHealth: New Healthcare Facility in Lynden, Washington | Utilizes Lynden Door's Architectural Interior Wood Doors (LD Series)

PeaceHealth opened a state-of-the-art healthcare center in Lynden, Washington in April 2024, with the goal to enhance medical care for residents of north and east Whatcom County and meet the increasing need for comprehensive healthcare services.

Beyond offering expanded medical services and healthcare options, the new location also exemplifies a commitment to environmental sustainability and community collaboration.

“We built this facility from the ground up with a commitment to make this an environmentally sound building,” says PeaceHealth Sustainability Lead Brian Nelson. “Lynden will be our first building for PeaceHealth that will be LEED certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) — it’s the world’s most widely used framework that helps define how buildings can be greener.”  (Source: Whatcom Talk)

The 24,393 square-foot building features 162 solar panels installed on its roof, contributing to offsetting a quarter of the facility’s energy requirements. The landscaping incorporates vegetation to naturally filter runoff, preventing polluted water from entering local waterways.

“We looked at everything from a green-building perspective from the materials that we used for construction down to some of the things like the doors, for instance,” says Nelson. “We used a local vendor to manufacture those. We’ve tried to try to keep things local and use green materials both inside and out. As a way of educating both staff and patients, we will have signage on campus so people can walk by and check out the cool things we included, from an environmental perspective.” (Source: Whatcom Talk)

The new clinic will employ approximately 50 caregivers and providers, with a capacity to serve between 150 to 200 patients on a daily basis.

The PeaceHealth project utilized Lynden Door’s LD Series Architectural Interior Wood Doors – this series is capable of meeting the highest levels of specification driven performance standards, fulfilling the complex design requirements for both aesthetic and functional aspects of a project. All doors utilized in the Peace Health project aligned with LEED and WDMA Standards.

Agfiber door cores, an eco-conscious solution, were utilized in the 45-minute applications. Crafted from renewable plant cellulose, Agfiber surpasses wood in sustainability and aligns with LEED standards.

Plain Sliced White Maple doors skins, architectural “A” grade wood veneers, were custom stained for this project creating a rich, modern aesthetic.
